    Artistic Director Judy Welch…

Mrs. Welch received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree at Nebraska Wesleyan University and her Masters of Music Education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She will begin her third year at Kooser Elementary School in Lincoln. She served 16 years as the Music Specialist at Hamlow Elementary and Waverly Intermediate Schools in Waverly, Nebraska. She taught private piano, voice and violin lessons in her home for over 30 years. Mrs. Welch was a member and Assistant Conductor of the Lincoln Choral Artists, under the direction of Dr. William Wyman and Jason Horner for 20 years. Mrs. Welch served for ten years as an Assistant Conductor and Administrative Coordinator for the Lincoln Boys Choir, in Lincoln, Nebraska, under the direction of Burton Schernikau. She served as the State Chair for elementary music teachers with the Nebraska Music Educators Association from 2010 through 2011. She developed the first Nebraska All-State Children’s Choir in 2011 and continues to serve as the choir coordinator. In 2015 she was asked to coordinate the middle level barbershop choir for the Nebraska Music Educators Convention taking place the opposite years of the children’s choir. She is a member of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association and the American Choral Directors Association where she served as the co-chair of the Sing Around Nebraska Children’s Choir for four years. She was commissioned an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy for her work in music education and was awarded the Outstanding Young Music Alumni Award from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 2006.

    Director Erin Niebuhr...

Erin is a music educator and board certified music therapist who loves bringing music to all students of any age or ability level.  Erin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music therapy and piano performance from the University of Kansas in 2001 and began her career with Omaha Public Schools as a music therapist. In 2004, she joined Lincoln Public Schools teaching elementary music. After 14 years in music education, she made a change and went back to music therapy, taking a position at the Boystown National Research Hospital, Center for Childhood Deafness in Omaha where she teaches music to Deaf/Hard of Hearing preschool students. In 2018, Erin graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Masters degree in Music Education also earning Orff teacher certification. She directs a choir and Orff ensemble of 3rd-6th graders at her church and also volunteers in various other musical capacities for worship services. When not teaching or making music, Erin enjoys reading, scrapbooking and spending time with her 13 year old triplets and husband, Brian.

Julie

    Accompanist Julie Wilshusen...

Julie received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree, with a vocal music focus, from Nebraska Wesleyan University and her Masters of Arts in Leadership from Bellevue University. She currently serves as the Choir Director and Organist at Peace Lutheran Church in Waverly and as the Costume Librarian at Nebraska Wesleyan University. She has served as an accompanist for over 30 years for various choirs, soloists, and musical productions. She has performed vocally at various venues and functions, including Disneyland, Dodger Stadium, Hollywood Park, and various civic and military ceremonies, in addition to church and civic choirs. She was employed as the music teacher at St. John’s Lutheran School in Denver and as the accompanist and director of Children’s Worship Development at St. Peter’s by the Sea Presbyterian Church in Palos Verdes, California. Aside from music, she has advocated for education as PTO President and parent representative, and she has been the director of Peaceful Beginnings Early Childhood Center. She continues to coach singers in both classical and stage techniques

    Accompanist Sheryl Parde...

Ms. Parde received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree, K-12 vocal/instrumental from Nebraska Wesleyan and her Masters of Music Education from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. She taught public school music for 34 years with Clay Center Public School, Malcolm Public School and Lincoln Public School districts.  Ms. Parde received her Orff and Kodaly Certification, Levels I, II and III, and served as past President of the Nebraska Great Plains Orff Chapter. She taught private piano lessons for 25 years. Sheryl currently serves Lincoln Public Schools as the piano accompanist for Culler Middle School. Ms. Parde has been the organist at Hickman Presbyterian Church since the 1970’s, participating in chancel choir and bell choir, too. Sheryl has recently joined new musical endeavors, singing in a Hospice Singing Choir, playing her saxophone in the Lincoln Community Concert Band, and accompanying students for the Harris Arts Academy in Lincoln. Sheryl enjoys playing in a recorder quartet with music teacher friends at rest-homes and other venues. Sheryl works for Premier Catering and enjoys helping people.
